J-PARC Center

J-PARC (Japan Proton Accelerator Research Complex) is the world-class proton accelerator facility operated by High Energy Accelerator Research Organization (KEK) and Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA).

It is characterized by use of a variety of secondary particle beam such as neutron, muon, Kaon and neutrino which are produced by the high-intensity proton beam. As a multipurpose facility, we operate the accelerators and the experimental facilities for cutting-edge research involving a wide-ranging field: particle physics, nuclear physics, materials and life science, and nuclear technology.

Facilities

  • (1)Three proton accelerators of J-PARC:
    • ・ a 400 MeV Linear Accelerator,
    • ・a 3 GeV Rapid-Cycling Synchrotron (RCS)
    • ・a 50 GeV (currently 30 GeV) Main Ring (MR)
  • (2)Three experimental facilities of J-PARC:
    • ・Materials and Life Science Experimental Facility
    • ・Hadron Experimental Facility
    • ・Neutrino Experimental Facility
